DECOmpensation, 2009/2014, surveys lower Manhattan from the Brooklyn Bridge at the height of the Great Recession. The digitally mirrored composition led to the chance emergence of a menacing, technological being—an abstracted, architectural entity that channels the inhuman scale and opaque power of global finance. Referencing Art Deco grandeur while hinting at collapse, the image becomes a portrait of a system at a precarious time. Printed by hand from 8×10 film, no two prints are the same.
